Introducing Smart Sandboxes: Parallel Development Without Parallel Environments
CrossVista is proud to announce Smart Sandboxes, a major new feature of our SmartBranch DevOps platform — officially unveiled this week at the IBM webMethods International Users Group meeting in Brussels, Belgium, May 12–14, 2025.
The Challenge
In enterprise environments, providing each developer with their own sandbox is often impractical due to cost or system limitations. As a result, many organizations rely on shared development environments, leading to frequent issues:
- Developers overwrite each other’s work
- Dependency conflicts break functionality
- Urgent hotfixes get delayed by long-running feature work

The SmartBranch Solution
Smart Sandboxes allow organizations to avoid these headaches — without investing in expensive, isolated environments.
- Context-Aware Locking
Automatically locks only the assets (and their dependencies) you’re working on — nothing more. - Dependency-Aware Branching
Ensures the correct revisions of all assets are included in your branch — so your tests are reliable. - Baseline Flexibility
Branch from production or development depending on your use case — perfect for hotfixes or long-term features. - Zero Bottlenecks from Shared Code
Shared assets like error handlers and logging utilities are managed intelligently — with notifications, not blocks.
The intelligent result of Smart Sandboxes: More done. Less effort. No DevOps drama.
This functionality is currently only available for IBM webMethods Hybrid Integration and on-prem IBM webMethods. It will be available for other platforms later this year.
If you’re attending the IBM webMethods International Users Group in Brussels this week, please say hello to Pedro Moniz-Barreto, our Director of Sales for EMEA. He’ll be the guy in the colorful jacket. You’ll know it when you see it.
